A learning-based model of repeated games with incomplete information

چکیده
This paper tests a learning-based model of strategic teaching in repeated games with incomplete information. The repeated game has a long-run player whose type is unknown to a group of short-run players. The proposed model assumes a fraction of ‘short-run’ players follow a one-parameter learning model (self-tuning EWA). In addition, some ‘long-run’ players are myopic while others are sophisticated and rationally anticipate how short-run players adjust their actions over time and “teach” the short-run players to maximize their long-run payoffs. All players optimize noisily. The proposed model nests an agent-based quantal-response equilibrium (AQRE) and the standard equilibrium models as special cases. Using data from 28 experimental sessions of trust and entry repeated games, including 8 previously unpublished sessions, the model fits substantially better than chance and much better than standard equilibrium models. Estimates show that most of the long-run players are sophisticated, and short-run players become more sophisticated with experience.

Relationship between Designing Computer-based Educational Games, and Learning Motivation among Elementary Students
Background: Motivation is an important factor in learning. Educational games increase the learning motivation and understanding of students by creating a sense of joy, satisfaction and involvement. However, it is necessary to incorporate learning elements into the games, differently. In this study, the researcher tried to provide a model for designing educational games and determining its relat...
متن کاملNo-Regret Learning in Repeated Bayesian Games
Recent price-of-anarchy analyses of games of complete information suggest that coarse correlated equilibria, which characterize outcomes resulting from no-regret learning dynamics, have near-optimal welfare. This work provides two main technical results that lift this conclusion to games of incomplete information, a.k.a., Bayesian games. First, near-optimal welfare in Bayesian games follows dir...
متن کاملMultiagent Reinforcement Learning in Stochastic Games
We adopt stochastic games as a general framework for dynamic noncooperative systems. This framework provides a way of describing the dynamic interactions of agents in terms of individuals' Markov decision processes. By studying this framework, we go beyond the common practice in the study of learning in games, which primarily focus on repeated games or extensive-form games. For stochastic games...
متن کاملSophisticated EWA Learning and Strategic Teaching in Repeated Games
Most learning models assume players are adaptive (i.e., they respond only to their own previous experience and ignore others' payo® information) and behavior is not sensitive to the way in which players are matched. Empirical evidence suggests otherwise. In this paper, we extend our adaptive experienceweighted attraction (EWA) learning model to capture sophisticated learning and strategic teach...
متن کاملComparing flow experience of medical students in cognitive, behavioral, and social educational games: A quasi-experimental study
Background & Objective: This study contributed to the current body of literature on educational games by comparing medical students’ flow experience in three types of educational games developed based on three learning theories: behavioral, cognitive, and social. Materials & Methods: A quasi-experimental repeated measure design was employed. A total of 39 second-year medical students played th...
